What counts as egress
Egress is data transmitted out to a client. Depending on the provider, it can include database responses, connection-pooler traffic, Auth, object storage downloads, Realtime, functions, and log drains.
Why request counts are not enough
One million small responses can transfer less data than a few large downloads. Estimate average payload size from observability data or representative responses rather than treating each request equally.
Cached and uncached traffic
Providers may define separate cached and uncached categories with different quotas or prices. This calculator produces a transfer estimate and does not decide which provider category receives each byte.
Decimal units
The calculation uses 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes, and 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes. A provider dashboard may display decimal GB or binary GiB, so compare unit labels carefully.
